APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
Incorrect results when the JVM property "jaxws.response.throwExceptionIfSOAPFault" is set to false. When this property is set to false, no SOAPFaultExceptions should be thrown for JAX-WS dispatch client. However, when set to false it is also, incorrectly, stopping any WebServiceExceptions from being thrown. This is preventing exceptions, for example a connection error, from being returned to the client.
Local fix
Candidate to be fixed in next release.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server v7 and V8.0 for for JAX-WS * * applications. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Local exception is not caught when * * "jaxws.response.throwExceptionIfSOAPFau * * lt" is set to false. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply a fix pack that contains this APAR. * **************************************************************** When "jaxws.response.throwExceptionIfSOAPFault" is set to false, no SOAPFaultExceptions should be thrown for JAX-WS dispatch client. However, when set to false it is also, incorrectly, stopping any WebServiceExceptions from being thrown. This is preventing exceptions, for example a connection error, from being returned to the client.
Problem conclusion
JAX-WS Web services engine has been updated so that when "jaxws.response.throwExceptionIfSOAPFault" is set to false, no SOAPFaultExceptions is thrown only when a SOAP response is received for the dispatch client. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 7.0.0.21 and 8.0.0.2.
