Error description

  • When using WOLA to invoke IMS programs, calling the
    setOTMASyncLevel does not modify the OTMA Sync Level as
    expected.

    The method signature is:
    public void setOTMASyncLevel(java.lang.String OTMASyncLevel)

    If csi.setOTMASyncLevel("0") is called, then Commit Mode 1
    (CM1): SEND_THEN_COMMIT -  Sync Level NONE (0) is applied.

    However, if csi.setOTMASyncLevel("1") is called, then nothing
    happens: Commit Mode 1 (CM1): SEND_THEN_COMMIT - Sync Level
    NONE (0) is applied.

    It is expected that if csi.setOTMASyncLevel("1") is called,
    then the following should be applied:
    Commit Mode 1 (CM1): SEND_THEN_COMMIT - Sync Level CONFIRM (1)

    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: WOLA over OTMA fails to properly *
    * propagate the OTMASyncLevel setting. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The WOLA native interface with IMS OTMA C/I is not properly
    checking the SyncLevel(0|1) setting and is always forcing this
    to 0, or NONE.

Problem conclusion

  • The WOLA native code is modified to correctly propagate the
    OTMASyncLevel setting.

    APAR PM33874 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service
    Level (Fix Pack) 7.0.0.19 of WebSphere Application Server V7.0.
