Error description

  • Problem :
When registering managed nodes with a job manager, some fields
    are pre-set.

    Steps to recreate :
Register two base profile servers with our job manager

    - Both base profile servers are registered to the same admin
    agent
    - Both base profile servers are registered to the same Job
Manager via the above mentioned admin agent

1.) Register the first base profile server to the job manager
    - "Host name" and "Port " were pre-set with default values
    (localhost,9943)
    - Fill out all needed values with values suitable with
    environment
==> Registration with job manager successfull

2.) Register the second base profile server to the job manager
    - All fields ("Alias", "Host name", "Port", "User name"
    "Password" and
    "Confirm Password") were pre-set
    - "Alias", "User name" were pre-set with the values of the
    previously
    registered base profile server
    - "Host name" and "Port" were pre-set with the default values
    - Edited "Alias", "Host name" and "Port"and did not change
    "Password"
    and "Confirm Password"
==> Registration with job manager successfull

    Therefore:
    - "Password" and "Confirm Password" are cached correctly
    - "Alias", "User name", "Password" and "Confirm Password" are
    being cached
    - "Host name" and "Port" are not being cached

To my mind (based on the experience I made while setting up our
environment), "Alias" should not be cached (used a different
    Alias per
server), instead "Host name" and "Port" should be cached.

    Solution with this APAR :

Host name and port number will only contain the defaults the
    first time
through, after that, the previous values will be cached.
The alias and confirmpassword will not be cached. Although the
confirmpassword was being cached correctly, we believe that the
user should have to reenter the value for tougher security
    measures.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The administation console caches some *
    * fields when registering managed nodes *
    * to the job manager *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
After registering a managed node in the administration console,
registering another node will show some of the fields
prefilled with the information from the previous node.

Problem conclusion

  • In the administration console when registering a node to the
job manager, the host and port will retain the previously
entered information while the alias and confirm password
fields will be initialized to be empty to force a challenge.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 7.0.0.19. Please refer to the Recommended
