APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
In certain circumstances, an exception can occur resulting in an FFDC with a CWSIJ0064E message originating from the OutboundConnectionTracker.closeConversation() method. Following this, no socket used by the Service Integration BUS outbound connections will be closed. This results in a socket leak and eventually the consequences of this are manifest by any of the following symptoms: - the server running out of file handles - applications unable to create SIB connections - potentially even OutOfMemory.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of the default messaging provider * * for IBM WebSphere Application Server * * version 7.0 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Socket leak resulting from CWSIJ0064E * * exception in * * OutboundConnectionTracker.closeConversa * * tion() * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** As a consequence of the exception, invalid state prevents any subsequent attempts to close a conversation to not actually close the socket if appropriate. This results in a socket leak.
Problem conclusion
This APAR changes the code to prevent the exception being thrown, simply logging an FFDC instead. The current and subsequent conversation closes proceed correctly, thus avoiding a socket leak. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 7.0.0.19.
