APAR status

Error description

  • In IBM WebSphere Application Server version 7, if an Enterprise
    JavaBean (EJB) application is using the UserWorkArea interface,
    and if the application exceeds the size of the UserWorkArea, an
    exception is thrown, for example:
    
    WACT0003E: The size limit was exceeded for marshalled
    PropertyGroup data for Service com.ibm.ws.workarea.IWorkArea,
    PropertyGroup com.ibm.ws.workarea.IWorkArea; the size of the
    data is 10017 bytes and the size limit is 10000 bytes.
    
    java.rmi.RemoteException: CORBA IMP_LIMIT 0x0 No; nested
    exception is: org.omg.CORBA.IMP_LIMIT: Property Group too large
    vmcid: 0x0  minor code: 0  completed: No
    
    Once this exception has been thrown, EJBs can no longer get a
    reference to the WorkArea; each subsequent lookup call returns
    null.
    
    Once the WACT0003E occurs, the JNDI lookup always
    returns null. The workarea can't recover, and the JVM must be
    restarted.

    The invalid state prevented the current thread from ever being
    able to perform remote activities, including propagating
    WorkAreas.
    

Problem conclusion

  • This APAR ensures that the invalid state is cleaned up when an
    exception occurs during the critical part of setting up a
    remote activity.
    
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 7.0.0.19.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
