APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
Using the Admin Console, and in some cases scripting, creating or modifying WMQ JMS resources using WSAS variables fails with validation errors. It is not possible to configure the resource using WSAS variables.
Local fix
Use wsadmin scripting to create or modify the JMS resources as needed.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V7.0 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Creating or modifying WMQ JMS * * resources using variables fails with * * validation errors. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Validation of values used to configure WMQ JMS resources added in v7.0 prevents the use of a WSAS variable in certain fields, for example queue manager name. This applies to connection factories, queues, topics and WMQ activation specifications. WSAS variables cannot be used because the validation logic does not permit the characters used in WSAS variables, for example ${name} - $, { and } are all invalid characters for a queue manager name.
Problem conclusion
This APAR enables the use of WSAS variables for all fields except those that take a numeric data type. For example, a WSAS variable can be used for the queue manager name field, but not for the port. The port must be specified without the use of a WSAS variable. APAR PM30714 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service Level (Fix Pack) 7.0.0.19 of WebSphere Application Server V7.0.
