APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
The code is making an incorrect usage of the StringTokenizer. The delimiter parameter of StringTokenizer constructors are intended as a string of individual delimiting characters. The use of StringTokenizer(..., "\\u", ...) is clearly not going to achieve the code's intended purpose.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V6.1 and V7.0 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: NumberFormatException is thrown when * * running jython script containing * * non-English characters * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The Java NumberFormatException is thrown when running a jython script to create or modify a config object and object attribute value containing some non-English (unicode string) characters such as "u'C:/u234D\u2026". It is a bug in the scripting parsing code and jython unicode string can not be converted properly.
Problem conclusion
The Jython script failed with the NumberFormatException when script attributes contain some non-English characters (in jython unicode string such as u'C:/u234D\u2026 format). It is a bug in the scripting JythonUtilities code and it did not parse Non-English characters (jython unicode string) correctly. This has been corrected. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 6.1.0.37 and 7.0.0.15.
