APAR status

Error description

  • When On-demand router (ODR) clusters and no servers are defined
    in a cell, the ODR cluster could be chosen as the default
    target for application installation even though it is an
    invalid target.
    

Local fix

Problem summary

    * USERS AFFECTED:  All users of IBM WebSphere Application      *
    *                  Server V7.0 with ODR clusters and no        *
    *                  application servers installing              *
    *                  applications using the administrative       *
    *                  console.                                    *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: An ODR cluster can be the default       *
    *                      server that an application is mapped    *
    *                      to even though it is not a valid        *
    *                      target.                                 *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The console would just use the first server then cluster it
    found as the default when installing an application.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The console code now looks for valid targets to use for the
    default when installing an application.
    
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 7.0.0.17.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
    page for delivery information:

Temporary fix

  • Don't use the default target.  Set the value during
    installation.
