APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The "Enable Log" check box for the Diagnostic Trace Service
    is shown checked sometimes even when the tracing is disabled.
     -
    The customer reported this problem from the Adminitrative
    Console:
      1. Troublshooting > Logs and Tracs > server1 >
         Diagnostic Trace
      2. Configuration tab shows:
          "Enable Log" is checked
      3. Click on Runtime tab
      4. Click on Configuration tab. Now it shows:
          "Enable Log" is NOT checked
     -
    This behavior is only seen then the trace string under on the
    Change Log Detail Levels panel is set to *=info. If any trace
    string is enabled then the "Enable Log" check box stays checked.
      -
    The problem is that the "Enable Log" box should only be checked
    if a trace string is enabled. So in the scenario above step 2 is
    showing the wrong display. The "Enable Log" box should not
    be checked. Seeing this problem does not affect the tracing that
    is being used. It is only a problem with the display.
     -
    This problem is only seen in Version 6.1. Version 7 does
    not have this check box.
    

Local fix

  • The "Enable Log" value can be ignore. The trace is set
    correctly.

    The problem occurs due to the code shared by configuration and
    runtime tabs. If the value in runtime is different than
    configuration the behavior becomes inconsistent.
    

Problem conclusion

  • To fix this problem, detached the logic which was common
    between two panels. This meant adding additional code for
    runtime panel.
    
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 6.1.0.37.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
