Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server V6.1 and * * V7.0 users using Microsoft Windows services **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The application server may not be * * detected as started successfully * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When using Microsoft Windows services to start or stop the WebSphere Application Server, the service may falsely report a failure when there was a successful start.
Problem conclusion
The service code expected the application server to write a file within 15 seconds of starting. In a busy environment (such as startup), this file might not be produced within this time frame. The time value was increased to 300 seconds to allow for sufficient time for this file to be created. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 6.1.0.37 and 7.0.0.15.
