APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Proxy on WebSphere
    Application Server V7.0.0.11.

When a Load Balancer is in front of WebSphere Application
Server Network Deployment edition proxy, the INVITE
Contact header contains the load balancer's (LB) IP. The SIP
Proxy will forward the header with both the LB and Proxy
addresses. The 180 RINGING and 200 OK had the Proxy address
    and not the LB address.

Local fix

  • Add the SIP custom property to the SIP Proxy

udp.IPSprayer.host = "ip address of LB"

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The SIP Proxy is publishing the wrong *
    * cluster address to the SIP Container. *
    * This can cause packet routing problems. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
On startup, the SIP Proxy is publishing the wrong cluster
address to the SIP Container. As a result the wrong address
is sent in some SIP messages. Ultimately, some messages are
    routed to the wrong address.

Problem conclusion

  • We fixed this problem by correctly reading the cluster address
from the SIP Proxy transport chain. This correct cluster
address is sent to the SIP Container.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 7.0.0.17. Please refer to the Recommended Updates
