Local fix

  • If the size of the message causing the SDC2 ABEND is
significantly less than 1 megabyte, the WebSphere runtime can
be tuned so that these messages will be stored below the bar
instead of above the bar. Contact Level 2 for assistance.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
A server running in 64 bit mode required above the bar
storage to represent pieces of the native construct for a
Request (ORB_Request). On z/OS the IARV64 service is used for
obtaining above the bar storage. The default ownership of the
storage is assigned to the current task. If the owning task
terminates the storage will be freed.

There were 1-way requests being driven by DRS from the
controller on threads that could terminate prior to the request
completing its dispatch in the server's servants. The storage
obtained above the bar was freed as part of the cleanup for the
task termination. This caused the DC2 ABENDs as well as 0C4
ABENDs (in the servant) during the subsequent processing of the
    request.

Problem conclusion

  • Code was added to the storage management code of the native
request (bbooorsx.mac) to assign the ownership of the obtained
    storage to the main task.

APAR PM21181 is currently targeted for inclusion in
Service Level (Fix Pack) 6.1.0.35 of WebSphere Application
    Server V6.1.
