APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
When LTPA token data is handling userdata, references to original data remains. The original data stays in the memory until the LTPA token expires. This apar will remove the reference so userdata will be cleaned up by Java garbage collector sooner. The code change should also improve performance by using String interning. This change makes difference in memory/performance when the user scenario handles large number of group data, or large number of servers to propagate security information to.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server who use LTPA token for * * authentication * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Memory improvement in LTPA token * * handling. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When WebSphere creates LTPA token, user data is parsed and allocated in memory. There were same string such as realm name allocated multiple times in memory area and not freed up until LTPA token expires.
Problem conclusion
Code is updated so that the same string is allocated only once in memory area when token is being processed. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 6.1.0.35 and 7.0.0.15.
