Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V7.0 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Shared libraries do not work * * correctly when the associated resource * * is located on a remotely mapped file * * system. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The Application Server Classloader code was incorrectly constructing an internal use URL such that the remote host information contained in the path, as defined in the shared library value field, is being incorrectly discarded. Once the host information has been lost, the ClassLoader no longer is able to access the specified resource. This can result in java.util.MissingResourceException's. Remote file mappings are specified using the UNC path naming standard, an example being \\hostName\pathToResource\resource.jar.
Problem conclusion
The WebSphere Application Server Classloader code was changed to construct internal URL's such that host information is included as part of the path component of the new URL. The new internal URL representing the path to the shared library will result in correct resolution to the file on the remote file system. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 7.0.0.13.
