Error description

A JSF tag f:convertNumber results in an exception while trying
to convert the value of a Long type to an Integer.

While attempting to set a value for a component, the value is
not coerced to the proper type and this results in an
IllegalArgumentException.

For example, having the following JSF code:

<h:inputText maxlength="5" title="testInteger"
value="#{SampleBean.testIntegerValue}">
 <f:convertNumber minIntegerDigits="5" groupingUsed="false"/>
</h:inputText>


Could lead to the following exception:

ExtendedMessage: /testConvert.jsp(22,17)

Problem conclusion

The Unified Expression Language (EL) code was modified to
perform the proper type coercion.

APAR PM15312 is currently targeted for inclusion in
Service Level (Fix Pack) 7.0.0.13  of WebSphere
Application Server
