APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
The problem is in UIData#getClientId method, that is responsible for generating IDs for components inside the dataTable. Since UIData assumes it is not nested in another data component, it asks its parent (dataIterator) for its id only once, which results in all components having the same :0: index in their IDs. The dataIterator component itself works as expected, it does increment its ID as it's supposed to. This can easily be seen on any component that is a direct child of the dataIterator, and not a child of the nested dataTable. This problem only occurs at JavaServer Faces (JSF) 1.2. At JSF 1.1, it works fine.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server * * Version 7.0 users of JavaServer Faces * * (JSF). * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A JSF dataTable's IDs are not * * incremented properly if nested within * * an iterator component that is not of * * type UIData. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When a JSF dataTable component is nested within a component that does not extend UIData (for example, the Java Widget Library (JWL) dataIterator component), the IDs which are generated for the rows will not increment properly. This can result in duplicate IDs to be assigned to multiple JSF components.
Problem conclusion
The JSF code was modified to generate unique IDs for UIData components which are nested inside iterator components which are not of type UIData. To enable this behavior the following context parameter must be set to true in the application's web.xml file : com.ibm.ws.jsf.DISABLE_UIDATA_NESTED_CHECK An example entry is: <context-param> <param-name>com.ibm.ws.jsf.DISABLE_UIDATA_NESTED_CHECK</param-na me> <param-value>true</param-value> </context-param> The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 7.0.0.13.
