PM11980: NULLPOINTEREXCEPTION FIRED FROM PROXY JUNCTION REWRITE FILTER

Error description

As soon as Customer installed WebSphere Application Server
v7.0.0.9 (previously running with 7005) WebSphere Proxy
Servers could no longer route to IBM HTTP Servers.
Proxy trace.log generated the following FFDC file when it
had a null pointer exception:

junction rewrite filter is unable to rewrite LOCATION header for
service
context=HttpProxyServiceContextImpl@66da66da because
exception=java.lang.NullPointerException.

If Customer uninstalls 7009 from the Proxy Server and goes
back to 7005 everything works.Customer can successfully route to
WebSphere Application Server but not IBM HTTP Servers.

Websphere proxy server(Java based): Proxy throws
NullPointerException after 7.0.0.9 when error page handler
returns 302 response.

If error page handler is enabled and auto junction is also
enabled, when proxy generate error locally, outbound context
is reset to null and causes a NullPointerException to be fired.

Problem conclusion

Null pointer testing code is added in junction rewrite filter
before it uses the outbound context.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 6.1.0.33 and 7.0.0.13.  Please refer to the
