APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
Lookup of Common Event Infrastructure (CEI) emitter factory and related components from an external WebSphere Application Server client fails: Could not invoke method getObjectInstance on object of type com.ibm.ws.naming.urlns.genericURLContextFactory. parm0=java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) Therefore no CBE is emitted from the client app to the CEI infrastructure. Code change in com.ibm.events.client_6.1.0.jar needed.
Local fix
Explicitely define the provider URL and the initial context factory in the client application: Hashtable env = new Hashtable(); env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.ibm.websphere.naming.WsnInitialContextFactory"); env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "corbaloc:iiop:localhost:2809"); Context ic = new InitialContext(env); A warning/runtime exception will still be logged but the CBE will be correctly emitted.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V6.1 and V7.0 that also have Common * * Event Infrastructure (CEI) deployed and * * want to use the Common Event * * Infrastructure (CEI) client API from the * * WebSphere Application Server client. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Common Event Infrastructure fails * * when run from the WebSphere * * Application Server client. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The following error occurs when trying to use CEI with the Application Server client: [10/02/16 16:24:04:765 JST] 0000000a 3 UOW=9-fc00fc-8468171:whebi1 source=com.ibm.websphere.naming.genericURLInitialContextFactory org=IBM prod=WebSphere component=Application Server thread=[P=10546:O=0:CT] Could not invoke method getObjectInstance on object of type com.ibm.ws.naming.urlns.genericURLContextFactory. parm0=java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) ... Caused by: javax.naming.ConfigurationException: There is no name space at com.ibm.ws.naming.urlns.genericURLContextFactory.isNameSpaceAcce ssable(genericURLContextFactory.java:90) at com.ibm.ws.naming.urlbase.UrlContextFactory.getObjectInstance(Ur lContext Factory.java:73) This happens because the CEI client tries to lookup an Enterprise Java Bean (EJB) in the local context . The local context being the context of the Application Server client context which did not contain any EJBs.
Problem conclusion
Now CEI checks if the local context is the same as the context of the server in which the CEI EJB is bound. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 6.1.0.35 and 7.0.0.13.
