Error description

After applying PK81387 symbolic links within a WAR directory no
longer work.

A request for a static file or Java server Page (JSP) could fail
with a 404 (not found) error code if the requested file or JSP
is defined in the application using a symbolic link. A symbolic
link will work if the link is defined at the WAR root directory.

Problem conclusion

IBM WebSphere Application Server does not recommend use of
symbolic links although prior to PK81387 use of symbolic links
worked.The recommended approach is to use Extended Document
Root and customers are strongly encouraged to use it. More
information on using Extended Document Root can be found in
the WAS InfoCenter.

PK81387 fixes a security exposure and this APAR
modifies the WebContainer to tolerate symbolic links after
PK81387 without compromising the security fix provided by
PK81387.

To enable the new behavior provided by this APAR the following
WebContainer custom property must be set:

Name: com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.TolerateSymbolicLinks
Description : Enables the webcontainer to support use of
symbolic links after PK81387.
Values : true/false(default)

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 6.0.2.37, 6.1.0.27 and 7.0.0.5.  Please refer to the
