Error description
The SMAP file for the .tag is incorrect as it references the .jsp that calls it instead of the .tag itself. One of the Scenario to recreate the problem on Websphere Application Server V6.1 using Rational Application Developer 7.0 1. Create a web project that uses a .jsp file that calls a .tag file 2. Deploy the project onto Application Server V6.1 3. Set a breakpoint in the .tag file 4. Start the server in Debugging Mode 5. Debug the project Actual result: The breakpoint will not be hit. Expected result: The breakpoint should be hit and the thread should be suspended.

Problem conclusion
