Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application *
    * Server using servlet caching. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A ServletException is thrown to the *
    * client when processing a cache miss. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    A request attribute can be set to inform servlet caching not
    to cache the response output. If the attribute is set then
    servlet caching throws a ServletException back to the
    client.

Problem conclusion

  • Servlet caching will no longer throw the ServletException if
    the application sets the request attribute. Servlet caching
    will simply not cache the response output.

    fix packs 7.0.0.45, 8.0.0.14, 8.5.5.12, 9.0.0.4 and 17.0.0.3.
