Error description

• The JSP engine does not allow the compilation of Java 8
  specific code on WebSphere Application Server version 8.5.5.9.
  
  
  Messages like the following appear in the WebSphere JSP trace
  during application deployment
  
  - Lambda expressions are allowed only at source level 1.8 or
  above
  
  - Cannot switch on a value of type String for source level
  below 1.7. Only convertible int values or enum variables are
  permitted

  The jdkSourceLevel does not allow for the 18 value. Thus, the 18
  source level option cannot be passed to the compiler.
  

Problem conclusion

• The JSP container code was modified to allow the new value of 18
  to be specified for the jdkSourceLevel JSP attribute.
  
  The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
  fix pack 8.5.5.11.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
