PI44309: THREAD HANG DUE TO THE "ALLOW SERIAL ACCESS" ENABLED IN SESSION MANAGER

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The "Allow serial access" option is enabled for the application
    requirement, but under stress test, many hung threads were
    detected. The hanging threads were not released till exceeding
    60 min(Maximum wait time).

    With 'Serialize Session Access' enabled, a timing window may
    occur when two asynchronous threads attempt to lock or unlock
    a session simultaneously, resulting in a hung thread.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Code changes were made to the serialize session access logic
    in order to properly handle these asynchronous requests.
    
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix packs 7.0.0.41, 8.0.0.12 and 8.5.5.9.  Please refer to the
