Error description

  • With the WebSphere Application Server web server plugin
    component, if a server is marked down but ready to retry and
    selected to attempt to obtain the partition table, if the
    server is not available, it will get stuck in the marked down
    state.

    If using memory to memory replication and plugin attempts to
    obtain the partition table from a server which is marked down
    but ready to retry, if the server is still down, it will
    remain marked down until the web server is restarted.
    

Problem conclusion

  • When a server is marked down and tested to see if it is now
    available, there is a flag to ensure only a single request is
    sent to the server. When the server is tested by requesting
    the partition table and the server is still down, this flag is
    not cleared so the server is never retried and remains marked
    down indefinitely.
    
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix packs 7.0.0.39, 8.0.0.11, and 8.5.5.5.  Please refer to
