Error description

When a WMQ JMS Connecting Factory is created using CCDTURL, the
"Test Connection" button fails with the following error in
WAS Administration Console:

A connection could not be made to WebSphere MQ for the
following reason: JMSCMQ0001: WebSphere MQ call failed with
compcode '2' ('MQCC_FAILED') reason '2278'
('MQRC_CLIENT_CONN_ERROR').

CCDTURL is specified as follows:
file:///<path_containing_websphere_variable>/client.tab

Local fix

Use the actual path instead:
file:///${/apps/WebSphere/AppServer/v85/XYZ/profiles/TEST/extern
alConfig/mq/client.tab

Problem summary

The code that attempts a connection to the Queue Manager to
check connectivity when clicking the "Test Connection" button
does not expand WebSphere variables that could be present in
the connection data.  As a result the connection fails.

Problem conclusion

This APAR resolves the problem by expanding WebSphere
variables if present in the connection data.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 7.0.0.35, 8.0.0.10 and 8.5.5.3.  Please refer to the
