Error description

• SSM 4.0 cannot detect multiple interfaces with the same physical
  
  address correctly.
  
  1. The count of interfaces detected and monitored is wrong.
  
  2. The SSM can not detect multiple interfaces which have the
  same physical address.
  
  Before FP8:
  
  The right number of interfaces is listed, but some are listed
  twice (where 2 interfaces have the same physical address the
  wrong one is returned in ssmagent.log).
  
  On FP8:
  
  They are grouped together to avoid duplicates with the same
  physical address.
  
  Both item 1 and 2 will be fixed under the same APAR.

  Before FP8:
  The right number of interfaces is listed, but some are listed

  RECOMMENDATION:
  Upgrade to Fix Pack 9 for SSM 4.0.

Problem conclusion

• Interfaces with identical physical addresses are no longer
  considered the same interface unless they also have identical
  device names.
  
  The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
  packages:
