APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• After physically removing and unconfiguring a printer from the
  system, it continues to appear in hrDeviceTable only changing
  status to down. This was using SSM 4.0 FP7 on AIX 5.2.
  

Local fix

• This appears to be a problem common to all platforms. Hence
  creating an APAR

  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  Printers still appear in hrDeviceTable even after being
  unconfigured and unplugged from the host.

  RECOMMENDATION:
  Upgrade to Fix Pack 8 for SSM 4.0.

Problem conclusion

• Fixed. Modified the devicetable/printertable interaction logic
  to ensure both are always kept in sync. Also added a unique
  index allocator to the printer table so that indexes are
  assigned based on the uniqueness of the device description.
  These indexes are stored in config/hrdevice.idx but only
  implemented for hrPrinterTable at the moment.
  
  The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
  packages:
