APAR status

Error description

  • SSM agent version : SSM 4.0 build 935.
Operating system :  Microsoft Windows 2000, 5.00.2195 with
Service Pack 4

Ms SQL version   : SQL Standard Edition Version 8.00.2040(SP4) (
32 bit)

Problem : SSM 4.0 can hang (deadlock) when multiple
events are firing concurrently

Description :

SSM 4.0 Agents, with and without the build 935 fixpack were
hanging after running it for some time. This happens mostly on
the system where MS SQL server runs.The Netcool/SSM service
displayed a status of 'started' and the process was visable on
task manager, but neither the MIB browser nore the text console
could connect to the agent, and the agent stopped sending
heartbeat events to netcool.


Issue suspected as per L3 :

found a bug in eventman.dll hence loging this APAR.
