Error description

  • The 'test tcp-connection' provides the option of giving IP
address or hostname of the target. For example:

Syntax for 'test tcp-connection' using IP address:
     test tcp-connection address port [seconds]

Syntax for 'test tcp-connection' using host name:
test tcp-connection hostname port [seconds] [IP-version]

In either case when timeout value is provided in seconds as the
argument described by the documentation, this value is
incorrectly considered as IP version value. This reports an
error that the IP version value is invalid.

    For example:
    test tcp-connection 9.xx.xx.xxx 1414 10

% Use IP version '10' is not valid

Local fix

  • Swap the positions of [timeout] and [IP-version] as a
    workaround.
In the following example workaround, -4 specifies IPv4 with a
    timeout of 5 seconds
     "test tcp-connection TESTHOST 1414 -4 5"

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The order of options for the 'test tcp-connection' connection
are misinterpreted. The timeout value is interpreted as IP
version which can throw an invalid value error.

Problem conclusion

  • The code has been modified to interpret the options for 'test
    tcp-connection' command correctly.
