APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • We have historically had to develop application code that
exploits sets of 16 transmission queues between 2 downstream
endpoints in order to have any level of capacity when issues
occur. Even this is over time, is now considerably less than
    the capacity desired.

Local fix

  • NA

Problem summary

  • This APAR adds new function that enables
administrators to increase the maximum file size for a queue by
using the qsize option of altmqfls. altmqfls now supports
format 2 queue files which can grow much bigger than format 1.
The qsize option of altmqfls allows administrators to define
primary extents, secondary extents and maximum extents.
MQ creates a format 2 queue file if one of the used values
exceeds the format 1 file limitation but is supported by
format 2 or if the used values allow a maximum queue file size
    of more than 2 GB.
