MS0L provides a Java based utility for performing Linear Logfile Maintenance on either UNIX or Windows Servers.
The MS0L SupportPac provides a Java based utility for performing MQ Linear Logfile Maintenance on either UNIX or Windows Servers.
These programs should be executed nightly, in concert with the MQ Record Media Image (rcdmqimg) function.
NOTE: It is imperative that the oldest files required for restart and recovery are not deleted, or the restart or recovery of MQSeries will not be possible.
The Java MQSeries Linear Logfile Maintenance program does not perform permanent deletion of any of these files, but rather stores them to an archive so that any additional files that may be required for MQ restart or recovery will be easily available.
Skill Level Required
This program can be triggered from a shell script on UNIX platforms or from a Windows batch file on a Windows based system.
Basic understanding of these scripting languages, as well as knowledge of the relevant systems scheduling facilities is required.
New in this Release
• a) Support for MQ version 7.0.1 flexible naming in a Unix environment:
The previous version of the SupportPac made some basic assumptions:
1. Default base was "/var/mqm"; this could be overridden with the -d option
2. The Queue Manager directory would be located at:
This is where the qm.ini file would be located. an additional option has
been provided in this update to allow changing the value of the default
"qmgrs" subdirectory: -s <QmgrSubdirectory>
To define a non-standard directory path where:
Base directory at: /someOther/directory
QMGRS directory at: /someOther/directory/aDataDirectory
QMGR name is: MYQMGR
specify options: -q MYQMGR -d /someOther/directory -s aDataDirectory
b) Option provided to generate archive file in jar format rather default zip: -o JAR
