Abstract

Effective April 27, 2007, IBM withdrew from marketing part numbers for Distributed Computing Environment (DCE) listed in the Part number withdrawals section and licensed under the IBM International Program License Agreement. On April 30, 2008 technical support for DCE was withdrawn.

On or after these dates, you can no longer obtain these programs directly from IBM. You can obtain these programs on an as-available basis through IBM Remarketers.

Software withdrawal and changes in support: IBM Distributed Computing Environment — Replacements available


Overview

Effective April 30, 2008, IBM will withdraw standard support for the programs listed in the Program withdrawals section and licensed under the IBM International Program License Agreement.

Effective April 27, 2007, IBM will withdraw from marketing part numbers for Distributed Computing Environment (DCE) listed in the Part number withdrawals section and licensed under the IBM International Program License Agreement.

On or after these dates, you can no longer obtain these programs directly from IBM. You can obtain these programs on an as-available basis through IBM Remarketers.

Reference information

As previously announced, customers who run DCE because they are using the Encina component of TXSeries for Multiplatforms V5.1 (the Encina component requires DCE) will continue to receive support for DCE as part of TXSeries V5.1. Support will continue for these customers until the TXSeries V5.1 end-of-support date. For more information, refer to Software Announcement 205-322, dated December 6, 2005.

Technical support: Remote Technical Support for these products through Electronic Service Request (ESR), Electronic Incident Support (EIS), and IBM Support Line will be withdrawn. Remote Technical Support provides product support services for new defects.
