CICS IA is a productivity tool that automates discovery of runtime resource relationships within CICS applications, giving customers a comprehensive picture of how their CICS applications really work. It can be used by all who build, manage, and deploy complex mainframe CICS applications.

CICS IA V3.1 supports all new and updated resources in CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS TS), V4.1, enabling its users to benefit immediately from the important enhancements in the latest version of CICS TS (refer to Software Announcement 209-135, dated April 28, 2009).

CICS IA V3.1 also delivers many new capabilities to enable customers to control the cost of developing, testing, and managing CICS applications and to comply with internal IT policies.
  • Support for the CICS Explorer enables users with broader and less-specialized skills to access the power of CICS IA and delivers additional value when used in conjunction with other CICS tools.

  • The new Command Flow feature delivers unparalleled insight into the execution of CICS transactions, including Task Control Block (TCB) switches to facilitate moves to threadsafe, CICS command execution for advanced program analysis, and much more.

  • Extended Natural support includes the ability to see Natural program-to-program interactions and ADABAS usage by Natural programs.

  • Additional migration queries are provided, supporting customer upgrades for CICS TS V4.1.

  • Enhancements to the collector transaction enable the user to collect Affinity and Dependency data at the same time. It also allows the user to change certain collector options dynamically.
