Use the RECEIVE ORDER command to submit an Internet Service Retrieval request to the IBM Automated Delivery Request server. IBM recommends that you begin to use this function (included in the SMP/E function contained in z/OS V1.7 and higher) to acquire service. Refer to Chapter 4. Preparing to use Internet service retrieval of the SMP/E V3R4.0 User's Guide for more information. SMP/E Internet Service Retrieval is a replacement for S/390 Service Update Facility (SUF) which was discontinued on January 15, 2006. You can add individual PTFs to a system to fix known problems when you know the PTF numbers. You can also add PTFs when you know the corresponding APAR number. System replacement (ServerPac) replaces an entire existing system, or subsystem. These orders are automatically primed with the latest releases of all of the products installed on your system, making it very easy to order a updated system replacement. Your z/OS license entitles you to order this package. A CBPDO adds individual products on an existing system. These orders initially contain no products and you shop for products from a catalog. Your z/OS license entitles you to order this package. Effective January 10, 2005, ShopzSeries was enhanced providing Internet delivery of ServerPac (z/OS, DB2, CICS, IMS, WebSphere Application Server, NCP). CustomPac is a suite of fee based services designed to help you efficiently install, upgrade, and maintain your z/OS system and its related IBM and Independent Software Vendor (ISV) products. To place an order, contact your IBM sales representative or your IBM Business Partner (if applicable). In the US, you can also contact IBM Global Services Inside Sales at 888-426-4343 (option 3) or send an email to express@us.ibm.com. A service only CBPDO could previously be used to add or upgrade individual products to an existing system. Effective June 2006, as previously announced in Software Announcement 205-167, dated July 26, 2005, Service-Only CBPDO (5751-CS3) orders will no longer be accepted. An improved option for ordering service by SREL, or for all licensed products under the same customer number, will continue to be supported in ShopzSeries: You can also get service based on what you have installed using SMP/E Internet Service Retrieval, ShopzSeries, or selected fee offerings. You can find out more about SMP/E Internet Service Retrieval in the following WSC Flash: Updates to Service Delivery Options - Providing On-demand Capabilities and in the z/OS V1R7.0 Introduction and Release Guide. Note that CBPDO product orders are not affected by this change.
VSE provides information on ordering maintenance and on How to Buy. A new preventive service offering is available for VSE - the Recommended Service Level (RSL). This new service offering fills the gap between VSE Refresh levels and the "High Impact or Pervasive APAR" (HIPER) service provided by using the "Preventive Service Planning" (PSP) buckets. An RSL consists of a list of ALL APAR and PTF numbers, which are available at specific cutoff dates. RSLs are updated more frequently than refreshes and contain ALL available service, not only the HIPER service.
