IBM WebSphere Developer for System z V7.0 incompatible with Rational Application Developer interim fix V7.0.0.2

Abstract
If IBM® WebSphere® Developer for System z™ V7.0 has been installed, do not install interim fix Version 7.0.0.2 for IBM Rational® Application Developer. If this interim fix is installed, IBM WebSphere Developer for System z V7.0 will not operate correctly.
 
Content
The resolution for this problem is to install WebSphere Developer for System z V7.0 Service Release, Refresh Pack 7.0.1 which is available from Installation Manager server or download.
The problem is seen in the following scenarios:

Scenario 1 -
  • Customer has installed IBM Rational Application Developer V7.0 (with or without service prior to V7.0.0.2) and IBM WebSphere Developer for System z V7.0 (with or without V7.0.0.1).
  • Customer installs IBM Rational Application Developer interim fix V7.0.0.2.
  • The impact is some functionality within IBM WebSphere Developer for System z V7.0 will be rendered unusable.

Scenario 2 -
  • Customer has installed IBM Rational Application Developer V7.0 (with or without service prior to V7.0.0.2) but has not installed IBM WebSphere Developer for System z V7.0.
  • Customer installs IBM Rational Application Developer interim fix V7.0.0.2.
  • Customer will not be able to install IBM WebSphere Developer for System z V7.0 until the next IBM WebSphere Developer for System z V7.0 service update is available.

If IBM Rational Application Developer interim fix V7.0.0.2 is installed, and you cannot wait for the next IBM WebSphere Developer for System z V7.0 service update, the following is required:
  • Uninstall IBM WebSphere Developer for System z V7.0 by following these steps.
    1. Open a command prompt and open to the Installation Manager install directory (the default install directory is C:\Program Files\IBM\Installation Manager)
    2. Start the Installation Manager with the following command:

      eclipse\launcher.exe -vmargs -Dcic.expander.allowErrors=true

      This will cause the Installation Manager to treat the errors that block the uninstall as warnings which can be ignored to allow the uninstall to continue.
    3. Uninstall WDz 7.0. When the warnings appear, continue through them and proceed with the uninstall.
  • Uninstall IBM Rational Application Developer V7.0.
  • Install IBM Rational Application Developer V7.0 without applying the IBM Rational Application Developer interim fix V7.0.0.2 interim fix.
  • Install IBM WebSphere Developer for System z V7.0.
