IBM Support

Feature Comparison Matrix for CCRC, CTE, CCWeb, Native ClearCase GUI and SCM Adapter

Question & Answer

Question

What are the feature differences between the native version of the IBM Rational ClearCase GUI, ClearCase Web (CCWeb), SCM Adapter, ClearCase Remote Client (CCRC), and ClearTeam Explorer (CTE) on UNIX, Linux and Microsoft Windows?

Answer

Tables containing the feature comparison details for CCRC, CTE, CCWeb, Native ClearCase GUI and SCM Adapter are available in the file attachment listed below.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
ClearCase Remote Client (CCRC) and ClearTeam Explorer (CTE) each provide both a stand-alone client based on Eclipse RCP (Rich Client Platform) technology (supported on Windows, UNIX and Linux ) and an Eclipse plug-in (supported on Windows, UNIX and Linux). The features in the tables relate to both types.

ClearTeam Explorer (CTE) supports both dynamic and Web views as noted in the tables. Unless specifically stated, feature support refers to both view types.

Starting with ClearCase 7.1.1, there are two different ways native ClearCase can work in the UCM-ClearQuest integration
In additional to original integration, we now also support OSLC, which can be thought of as ClearQuest Web. More information is available here -
About using the LAN ClearCase/WAN ClearQuest UCM integration that utilizes the ClearQuest OSLC REST interface

Some functionality that is available in native ClearCase in the original integration is not available in the OSLC version of the integration. The limitations of that OSLC REST interface are described in the above technote.
