Application of this PTF may disable or render ineffective programs that
use system memory addresses not generated by the IBM translator,
including programs that circumvent control technology designed to limit
interactive capacity to purchased levels.  This PTF may be a prerequisite
for future PTFs.  By applying this PTF you authorize and agree to the
foregoing.

This PTF is subject to the terms of the license agreement which
accompanied, or was contained in, the Program for which you are obtaining
the PTF.  You are not authorized to install or use the PTF except as part
of a Program for which you have a valid Proof of Entitlement.

APAR Error Description / Circumvention

-----------------------------------------------
Some integrated file system commands allow wildcard character
specification to perform an operation against many objects with
one command. For example, CHGAUT OBJ('/DIR1/*') USER(USERA)
DTAAUT(*R) can be used to give USERA read authority to all of
the objects in directory /DIR1. However, if the specified
directory contains thousands of objects that match the wildcard
specification, the operation may fail with MSGMCH6903 (The heap
space has reached its maximum allowable size). After this, other
operations may fail with similar errors, even if they are not
related to the integrated file system. The errors continue until
the process is ended.

CORRECTION FOR APAR SE70400 :
-----------------------------
Wildcard matching in integrated file system commands used
storage inefficiently, fragmenting and exhausting the process
heap. In some circumstances this would also cause much of that
storage to remain allocated instead of being freed. The PTF
corrects the problems. After the PTF is applied, wildcard
matching of up to 1,024,000 objects will be supported.

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR SE70400 :
--------------------------------
Use more specific wildcard specifications to process fewer
objects at a time. For example, CHGAUT
OBJ('/sample/dir/fileA*.txt') and CHGAUT
OBJ('/sample/dir/fileB*.txt')

Some commands also allow you to specify SUBTREE(*ALL) or
SUBTREE(*DIR) to process many objects without using specifying
wildcard characters.

Activation Instructions

None.

Special Instructions

If the PTF is applied as an immediate PTF, active jobs must
be ended and restarted to activate the fix in those jobs. If
the PTF is applied as a delayed PTF, no further action is
necessary.

Default Instructions

THIS PTF CAN BE APPLIED IMMEDIATE OR DELAYED.
