APAR Error Description / Circumvention

-----------------------------------------------
When DUPOPT NEWVOL(*FROMVOL) is used to create an exact copy of
the media the DUPOPT successful completion message MSGOPT2045 is
sent, but the volume is not successfully renamed to the From
Volume and MSGOPT2192 appears in the job log.

CORRECTION FOR APAR SE69495 :
-----------------------------
The New Volume Name was inadvertently being set to an interim
volume name during the DUPOPT processing and was not being
correctly set to the From Volume name when the duplicate
function completed.

Apply this fix to correct the problem.

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR SE69495 :
--------------------------------
Use NEWVOL(*TOVOL) and rename the volume to match the From
Volume Name after the DUPOPT completes.

Special Instructions

********************************************************************
THE FOLLOWING ARE SUPERSEDED SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS. IF THE SUPERSEDED
PTF HAS ALREADY BEEN APPLIED AND ITS SPECIAL INSTRUCTION FOLLOWED,
IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO FOLLOW THAT SPECIAL INSTRUCTION AGAIN.
********************************************************************

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUPERSEDED PTF SI65435 :
=================================================

After this fix is applied message OPT1790 (Operation not allowed or
conflicts with another request) may return a new reason code, reason
code 10.

Message OPT1790 with reason code 10 will be sent when a DUPOPT command
is requested with the following parameters:  TOVOL(*BOOT),
NEWVOL(*FROMVOL), and TOENDOPT(*UNLOAD) to indicate that this
combination of parameters is not supported.
The recovery for message OPT1790 with reason code 10 is to retry the
request with the end  of media option parameters set to
FROMENDOPT(*UNLOAD) and TOENDOPT(*LEAVE).

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUPERSEDED PTF SI57188 :
=================================================

After this PTF is applied the DUPOPT command can be used to duplicate
an IPL capable DVD or distributed media image to RDX or Flash media.

Specifying a value of *BOOT for the To Volume parameter on the DUPOPT
command indicates that the boot area and all files from the source
media are to be copied to the mounted target media. The copy is done
even if the physical characteristics of the target optical volume do
not match the physical characteristics of the source optical volume.

The following example of the DUPOPT command shows how to copy IPL
capable media that is mounted in a DVD device that is named OPT01
to RDX media that is already initialized and mounted in device RMS01.

DUPOPT FROMVOL(*MOUNTED) TOVOL(*BOOT) CLEAR(*YES) FROMDEV(OPT01)
TODEV(RMS01)

The command in this example duplicates the mounted optical volume in
device OPT01 to the mounted optical volume in device RMS01. The optical
volume in device RMS01 is initialized before the duplication process.
The volume in device RMS01 will be IPL capable after the duplication
process completes.

Note: The special value of *BOOT is only valid when the source volume
contains IPL capable media.

Default Instructions

THIS PTF CAN BE APPLIED IMMEDIATE OR DELAYED.
