APAR Error Description / Circumvention

-----------------------------------------------
Depending on the characters involved, automatic data conversion
on stream file data from CCSID 1399 (mixed EBCDIC encoding) to
CCSID 1208 (UTF-8 encoding) may fail. Symptoms include API
failures with error number 3490 (ECONVERT). Other messages or
failures may occur. Similar problems may also occur with other
mixed EBCDIC CCSIDs, such as 1371, when converting to 1208 or to
other Unicode CCSIDs such as 1200 or 1232.

CORRECTION FOR APAR SE68834 :
-----------------------------
Underlying national language support increased the maximum
byte-length of characters in Unicode encoding schemes. The
integrated file system automatic data conversion function was
not updated to handle the larger characters. The PTF corrects
the problem.

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR SE68834 :
--------------------------------
None.

Activation Instructions

None.
