Prerequisites and co-requisites
The CICS PA plug-in system requirements are listed on the CICS Performance Analyzer for z/OS System Requirements tab.
The CICS PA Version 5.2.0 plug-in must be installed in the CICS Explorer Version 5.2.0. Please refer to the CICS Performance Analyzer for z/OS section of the CICS Explorer and CICS tools plug-ins release compatibility reference tables.
Installation information
Find further online install instructions within the technote, entitled "Ordering maintenance for the IBM Explorer for z/OS, IBM CICS Explorer and CICS Explorer plug-ins".
Prior to installation
It is recommended that you take a backup of the CICS Explorer workspace before upgrading. Online instructions on how to do this for the CICS Explorer can be found here: "Taking a backup of the CICS Explorer workspace".
Installing
This is covered in the "Ordering maintenance for the IBM Explorer for z/OS, IBM CICS Explorer and CICS Explorer plug-ins" technote. There are two main ways of installing the CICS Performance Analyzer for z/OS plug-in fix pack:
- IBM Installation Manager - Recommended
- Eclipse P2 Update Site
IBM Installation Manager - Recommended
It is recommended that you use IBM Installation Manager to install and update CICS Performance Analyzer for z/OS plug-in.
- Open the Installation Manager Preferences - Repositories page
- To update using the composite update site, you must ensure that the repository http://public.dhe.ibm.com/software/htp/zos/tools/1/ is available.
- To update using the Installation Manager Repository downloaded from IBM Fix Central, you must ensure that the zip file is added as a repository.
- Click the Update option in the Installation Manager wizard and follow the prompts to apply any updates available for the CICS Performance Analyzer for z/OS plug-in.
Eclipse P2 Update Site
If you would like to continue to use the Eclipse provided update method then follow these instructions.
- Run the CICS Explorer as usual. If you intend to use the composite update site and you know that it is already available, you can skip to the next step.
- To add the composite update site or to add the fix pack repository zip file downloaded from IBM Fix Central, select Help -> Install New Software... from the top menu.
- Click the Available Software Sites hyperlink.
- Select the Add... button.
- Type in a name for this update site
- Enter the following URL http://public.dhe.ibm.com/software/htp/zos/tools/1/ into the Location text box or Click the Archive and select the fix pack repository zip file downloaded from IBM Fix Central.
- Click OK
- Ensure the checkbox is selected against it once added.
- Click OK in the Preferences Dialog to return
- Click Cancel button or exit dialog to return.
- Select Help -> Check For Updates
- If any are available, please follow instructions in the dialogs to install.

Uninstalling if necessary
If using IBM Installation Manager, to revert back to the old version of the CICS Explorer, this can be achieved by using the Rollback function.
Otherwise, if you decide that you want to revert back to the old version of the CICS Explorer, you will be able to replace the .cicsexplorer folder with the backup that you made prior to upgrading.

- From the welcome screen, click the Tutorials icon. The icon names are displayed when you hover over them.
- From the main menu bar, click: Help -> Help Contents -> CICS PA Plug-in User Guide.
