Installation information
Prior to installation
Before attempting to apply this fix pack, please make sure that you comply with the prerequisites and corequisites for this fixpack. For more information, please refer to the ITCAM for Transactions Prerequisites. Also, it is recommended to read the Known Limitations for issues you may encounter while applying this maintenance package.
This maintenance package is applied directly to the Tivoli Enterprise Management Agents (TEMAs). If this package includes updates to the other ITM components it will require additional configuration.
The following ITM components will be reconfigured:
- Tivoli Enterprise Portal Server (TEPS).
- Tivoli Enterprise Management Server (TEMS)
Installing
Local Agent Install/Update
- Copy the patch file (e.g. 7.3.0.0-TIV-CAMRT-RRT-LA0003.
- Unpack the patch file. This should create a directory structure that contains patches for all of the supported platforms, plus the readme file.
- Use the itmpatch command to install the patch for that agent/platform. For example, if Candle Home is C:\IBM\ITM, and the patch was expanded to C:\temp\7.3.0.0-TIV-CAMRT-RRT-LA0003, the install command would be: itmpatch -h C:\IBM\ITM -i c:\temp\7.3.0.0-TIV-CAMRT-RRT-LA0003
Additional information on using itmpatch command
The itmpatch command has the following syntax. Usage: itmpatch -h[OPTIONS] itmpatch -h -i { | } itmpatch -h -t { | } where -h Specifies the ITM installation directory -i Specifies the path to the directory or patch file to be installed -t Generates a report of the actions to be taken by the patch To preview the fix pack installation, use the "-t" option: UNIX/Linux > $CANDLEHOME/bin/itmpatch -h $CANDLEHOME -t $PATCH To install the fix pack, use the "-i" option: UNIX/Linux > $CANDLEHOME/bin/itmpatch -h $CANDLEHOME -i $PATCH
Remote Agent Update
- Copy the patch file (e.g. 7.3.0.0-TIV-CAMRT-RRT-LA0003.
- Unpack the patch file. This should create a directory structure that contains patches for all of the supported platforms, plus the readme file.
- Use the tacmd (found in CANDLE_HOME\bin) to add the agent patch bundles into the remote deploy depot. For example:
Windows
C:\IBM\ITM\bin\tacmd addBundles -i c:\temp\7.3.0.0-TIV-CAMRT-RRT-LA0003 -n
- Use the tacmd to login to the TEMS server, and to deploy the patch to the appropriate nodes where the agent is running. For example:
Windows
C:\IBM\ITM\bin\tacmd login -s localhost -u Administrator -p mypassword C:\IBM\ITM\bin\tacmd updateAgent -t t6 -n mysystem:NT -v 073000003
Note that:
- The component (-t) for the updateAgent command is specified as two characters (t6), NOT three characters (kt6).
- The node (-n) for the updateAgent command is the name of the operating system agent that is installed on the system (in this case, the Windows OS agent). The target node for an updateAgent command is always an OS agent.
Rational Integration Support Install/Update
- Copy the patch file (e.g. 7.3.0.0-TIV-CAMRT-RRT-LA0003.
- Unpack the patch tar file. This should create a directory structure that contains patches for all of the supported platforms, plus the readme file.
- Start the Rational Integration Support Installer GUI to install the path. The GUI can be started by running the setup.exe from within the Rational_Integration\w32-ix86\disk1 directory. For example, if the patch was expanded to C:\temp\7.3.0.0-TIV-CAMRT-RRT-LA0003, the install command would be:
Windows C:\temp\7.3.0.0-TIV-CAMRT-RRT-LA0003\Rational_Integration\w32-ix86\disk1\setup.exe
- Restart Rational Performance Tester and re-export your existing scripts to the AMC agent.
Additional Install Instructions
Verifying the update
To verify the agent was updated correctly, use the tacmd to view the current version. You are required to login in to a Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server prior to viewing the agent version. For example, assuming IBM Tivoli Monitoring was installed into the C:\IBM\ITM directory, the commands would look like: Windows
C:\IBM\ITM\bin\tacmd login -s localhost -u Administrator -p mypassword
C:\IBM\ITM\bin\tacmd listSystems -t T6
When the agent update is successful, the agent version should now be: 07.30.00.03
Note that: - The component (-t) for the updateAgent command is specified as two characters (T6), NOT three characters (KT6).
Uninstalling if necessary
This maintenance package cannot be rolled back. The uninstallation instructions require that the TEMA agent be uninstalled and reinstalled.
Uninstalling the TEMA on Windows
1. Go to the Windows Control Panel. 2. Choose "Add or Remove Program". 3. Click on the TEMA you want to uninstall 4. Choose "Change/Remove" to uninstall it.
Uninstalling the tema on Unix
1. Issue the following command from the /IBM/ITM/bin directory: ./uninstall.sh 2. Follow the instructions to uninstall the TEMA that you want to remove. If the ITM OS Agent is installed on the machine where the uninstall procedure is required, you may proceed as follows: 1. Log onto the TEPS. 2. Right click on the TEMA you want to remove. 3. Choose Remove and follow the dialog buttons for removal.
