  • An abend (code 0C4/AKES) has occurred at offset X'0000055A' in
module CQTPATCH.

This can be seen when enabling Instruction Execution
Protection), a new feature with CICS TS 6.1.

* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: zSecure CICS Toolkit might cause an     *
*                      ABEND0C4.                               *

* RECOMMENDATION: Apply the PTF provided.                      *

When CICS transaction server is running with the IEP
(Instruction Execution Protection) feature enabled, zSecure CICS
Toolkit might cause an ABEND0C4 with MSGDFHSR0623 which begins
with the text "An attempt to execute an instruction from
protected storage..." followed by MSGDFHAP0001 which begins with
the text "An abend (code 0C4/AKES) has occurred at...".

Problem conclusion

  • zSecure CICS Toolkit has been modified so that it runs correctly
in cases where CICS transaction server is running with the IEP
(Instruction Execution Protection) feature enabled.
