Error description

  • CKV722I 08 Diagnose E4 error code 406 for RDEV ccuu cylinder 0
is allocated as DIRECTORY, PAGE, SPOOL, or TDISK.

The following message will also be seen:
CKVECOLL: CKVCOLL program failed with rc=8 This is a serious
    error, please correct and rerun.

Local fix

  • To solve the issue of not being able to collect the real device
information when cyl 0 is formatted as spool, page, or t-disk,
    this is an option:
Define full-pack R/O minidisk overlays (or just cylinder 0
overlays) in the CP-directory, and link them all into the userid
that runs the collect, and then run CKVECOLL

RDEV ..." followed by a MSGCKVECOLL which begins with the text
    "CKVCOLL program failed with rc=8...".

Problem conclusion

  • zSecure Collect for z/VM has been modified, so that when running
with the "COLLECT SENSE3990,ATTACH" option, a DEFINE MDISK
command is used as fall back when cylinder 0 of the interrogate
volume is allocated as PAGE or SPOOL, and the user running the
zSecure Collect has CP class A (for the DEFINE command) and has
CP option DEVMAINT or is the current system operator.
