Error description

  • Customer is attempting to run a CARLa process with the ALLOC
    TYPE=RACF statement but the DSN specified is a RACF UNLOAD. An
    ABEND0C1 is the result.

Local fix

  • Specify TYPE=UNLOAD when a RACF UNLOAD DSN is specified.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of zSecure exploiting explicit *
    * allocation mode for RACF database. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: zSecure main processing component *
    *                      (CKRCARLA) might ABEND0C1 in cases      *
    * where a type RACF input allocation *
    *                      refers to a non-RACF DB data set.       *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the PTF provided and review the *
    *                 documentation update.                        *
    ****************************************************************
    When input data set allocation specifies type RACF but the
    actual data set reference (DSN/DD parameter of the ALLOCATE
    CARLa statement or the UI data set name field) points to a
    non-RACF DB data set (for example to an UNLOAD file), the
    zSecure main processing component (CKRCARLA) might ABEND0C1.

Problem conclusion

  • zSecure main processing component (CKRCARLA) has been modified
    so that it performs additional checks against RACF DB
    allocations. Please note the documentation updates as provided
    by the APAR tracking comment data.
