Failed to check out a key for PurifyNT
 Technote (troubleshooting)
 
Problem(Abstract)
When you use IBM® Rational® Purify® with an IBM Rational PurifyPlus™ license key, you receive an error. This can also happen when you start IBM Rational Quantify® or IBM Rational PureCoverage®.
 
Symptom
You get one of the following error messages.

Failed to check out a key for PurifyNT:
FLEXlm Error -5, No such feature exists.
FLEXlm Error -15, Cannot connect to license server.

Failed to check out a key for RationalSuiteEnterprise:
FLEXlm Error -5, No such feature exists.
FLEXlm Error -15, Cannot connect to license server.

Failed to check out a key for DevelopmentStudio:
FLEXlm Error -5, No such feature exists.
FLEXlm Error -15, Cannot connect to license server. 

Failed to check out a key for RoseRealTimeDevelopmentStudio:
FLEXlm Error -5, No such feature exists.
FLEXlm Error -15, Cannot connect to license server.
 
Cause
The license usage mapper configuration is not correct.
 
Resolving the problem
  1. Open the License Key Administrator.
  2. Click Settings on the main menu.
  3. Click License Usage Mapper.
  4. On the installed products box highlight Purify.
  5. On the license usage order box select PurifyPlus.
    Move the box to the top with the Up and Down button on the right side. Then clear the rest of the products.
  6. Apply steps 4 and 5 for PureCoverage and Quantify. Both products need to get the licenses from Purifyplus.
  7. Click OK to confirm the changes made and start the product.

Purify, Quantify and PureCoverage now start without license errors.
