Problem

This technote identifies an error related to the IBM Rational ClearCase and Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2002 and 2003 integration where elements are checked in from a VOB using a dynamic view.

Symptom

When using a remote dynamic view to make a change to a file in .NET, file corruption may occur resulting in the following error messages:

Access Denied

The volume for a file has been externally altered so that the opened file is no longer valid. (Win32:ERROR_FILE_INVALID 1006, NTSTATUS:STATUS_FILE_INVALID 0xC0000098).

Resolving The Problem

Microsoft has issued a hotfix to fix this problem.
