Problem(Abstract)
Attempts to login to IBM Rational Team Concert (RTC) results in "Invalid path to authentication servlet" error.
Symptom
When launching a hyperlink from Microsoft applications (such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, or others) to the repository in Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 (and not Mozilla Firefox) the following error will occur:
HTTP 403: "Invalid path to authentication servlet"
Cause
The proxy server is returning an HTTP 403 error code due to Internet Explorer disallowing HTTP traffic on the local file system.

Rational Team Concert 3.0.1.2
- Websphere Application Server 7.0.0.21 and proxy server
Resolving the problem
This solution contains information about modifying the system registry. Before making any modifications to the Microsoft® Registry Editor, it is strongly recommended that you make a backup of the existing registry.
