  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: By default, DB2 9 for z/OS, DB2 10 for  *
  *                      z/OS and DB2 11 for z/OS subsystem      *
  *                      uses all columns of the original        *
  *                      partitioning key to define the new      *
  *                      partitioning key when converting from   *
  *                      index-controlled partitioning to        *
  *                      table-controlled partitioning.          *
  *                                                              *
  *                      However, queries on tables that were    *
  *                      converted from index-controlled         *
  *                      partitioning to table-controlled        *
  *                      partitioning when excluding             *
  *                      insignificant trailing columns from     *
  *                      the original partitioning key in the    *
  *                      definition of the new partitioning      *
  *                      key are likely to have better           *
  *                      performance.                            *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply corrective PTF when available.         *

  This APAR changes the default setting of system parameter
  IX_TB_PART_CONV_EXCLUDE from NO to YES so that when converting
  from index-controlled partitioning to table-controlled
  partitioning, the DB2 subsystem excludes insignificant trailing
  columns from the original partitioning key in the definition
  of the new partitioning key.
  

Problem conclusion

• IBM recommends that all current DB2 9 for z/OS, DB2 10 for z/OS
  and DB2 11 for z/OS customers who use IX_TB_PART_CONV_EXCLUDE=NO
  now convert to IX_TB_PART_CONV_EXCLUDE=YES. See the ++HOLD
