APAR status

  • Closed as new function.

Error description

  • Adding an ATSIGN keyword to support mail messages that switch
between two code pages. Mail messages generated using code page
IBM-273 are not compatible to use the standard at-sign symbol @
in CSSMTP mail commands and headers.
CSSMTP mail commands and headers are first converted to an
IBM-1047 code page before they are processed. The at-sign
symbol @ is in different locations for code pages 1047 and 273.

    ****************************************************************
New function to allow CSSMTP to translate non-industry standard
"at sign" symbols in a mail message commands or headers to the
IBM-1047 code page industry standard "at sign" symbol. This is
provided as a migration aid for customers migrating from SMTPD
    to CSSMTP.

Problem conclusion

  • CSSMTP has been modified to add an AtSign parameter option. With
this new option, you can configure an "at sign" symbol and
CSSMTP will internally convert this configured AtSign symbol to
the standard IBM-1047 "at sign" symbol in the SMTP commands and
header in a mail message. This simplifies migration from SMTPD
to CSSMTP for customers that use a code page other than the
default IBM-1047 and that have modified mail generation programs
to generate mail addresses with an "at sign" character other
    than the industry standard.
