Error description

  • Netezza hardware failures behind the scenes may trigger a
so-called nzPAUSE request. (The nzPAUSE request only becomes
evident in IDAA/Netezza traces and logs).
This request may impact updates (inserts/deletes) of tables in
progress related to a replication thread
When Netezza resumes operation the affected replication does
not continue where it had been interrupted. A subsequent attempt
to reload the affected tables would fail.

A fix for the issue will be provided by delivering a new
version of the Replication Engine component that has to be
installed on top of maintenance level V5 PTF8.

Netezza hardware failures may lead to interruption and
    subsequent hanging of replication threads.
The Replication Engine has been improved to handle nzPause
events gracefully to avoid the hanging situation.

Problem conclusion

  • To avoid hanging of replication threads due to hardware issue
related interceptions we recommend to upgrade your accelerator
maintenance level to V5PTF8 with the new Replication Engine
delivered with this PTF installed on top.
